Medicare open enrollment is upon us (October 15th – December 7th). During this time, it is crucial that you take the time to assess your medical needs and see if they are being met by your current Medicare plan.
The open enrollment period means that you are able to switch to or from either Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage. You are also given an opportunity to either join or drop a prescription drug plan through Medicare Part D. Once you have evaluated your personal medical needs, it is important to then do your research! Luckily there are many resources available out there. The Medicare website has all the information you may need. Make sure to check out the plan finder and look for plans with high ratings.
If you need more help or would like someone to walk you through the process, APPRISE counselors are available to assist you. APPRISE (1-800-783-7067) offers free Medicare counseling and may be able to find other benefits you did not know you were even eligible for! No matter what, when you have Medicare you are entitled to many benefits. This is a great time to find out exactly what those benefits are. Your health and well-being is of the utmost importance so take the time to make sure that your current Medicare plan is the best fit for your current and future health needs.
