EI 10
About the Event
The LGBT Elder Initiative has celebrated its 10-Year Anniversary this year to commemorate a decade of work in support of our LGBT older adult communities in the Greater Philadelphia region! In the decade since the 2010 LGBT Elder Summit that lay the foundation for much of our work, we have provided vital community programming for LGBT older adults, advocated for the needs of our communities, and built bridges between the LGBT elder community and the aging services network.
We extend our sincere thanks to all of the volunteers, program participants, donors, collaborating organizations, event sponsors, coalition partners, and community advocates who have supported us throughout the past decade!
If you missed any of our anniversary activities, they are all still available to view online! Use the links below to view our A Cause for Applause celebration, the recordings of our EI 10 Speaker Series programs, and the digital copy of our EI 10 Resource Book.
A Cause for Applause
Our annual celebration took place in virtual form this year! We were able to honor the Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly (CARIE), Senator Robert P. Casey, and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, in addition to celebrating the successes of the past 10 years.
EI 10 Speaker Series
Experts and advocates in the fields of aging, health, and LGBT rights joined us for a series of virtual conversations on topics including COVID-19, health disparities, racial and economic justice, access to care, and LGBT aging policy.
EI 10 Resource Book
This year’s program book is a special edition that includes resources for LGBT older adults and caregivers in the Philadelphia region, including lists of resources pertaining to housing, mental health, legal services, financial assistance, caregiver support, protective services, senior centers, and more!
