The Doctor Is In (Virtually!) The Health Effects of Loneliness
January 12, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeCOVID-19 has posed a risk to our health not only due to the virus, but also because of the isolation and loneliness that it has caused. Prolonged loneliness can impact our physical health as much as traditional risk factors such as high blood pressure, smoking, or obesity. It also affects our mental health, contributing to stress, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Join the Elder Initiative and Jefferson Health for this month’s “Doctor Is In” webinar program to learn more about the relationship between loneliness, isolation, and physical and mental health. We will learn about the health issues that may be affected by loneliness and will discuss strategies for addressing loneliness as a way to improve health outcomes.
Support for this program is provided by Jefferson Health.
