Changes in vision and hearing are common as we grow older. More than a third of people over the age of 65 have experienced hearing loss. Age-related hearing loss typically occurs gradually, meaning a person may not even realize they’ve lost some of their ability to hear. Vision changes can occur gradually as well as our eyes undergo natural changes, but there are also more serious eye conditions affecting older adults including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. Hearing or vision impairments can impact our communication with others, our overall health, and our independence.
