Taking care of our mental health is an essential part of healthy aging. Experiences with depression, loneliness, stress, and anxiety are all fairly common in today’s society, though are often not addressed or treated. Living with a chronic illness, including HIV, can also have an impact on our emotional well-being. Many people experiencing mental health issues may use drugs and alcohol to help themselves cope, which can negatively affect both emotional and physical health. Substance use can also impact a person’s ability to effectively manage a chronic health condition.

Join us for this free community forum to openly discuss issues of emotional wellness, substance use, and HIV. We will explore the relationship between mental health and drug use and how both of these factors can impact HIV care. We will also discuss the resources available that can help to address mental health and addiction.

-This program is free and open to the public
-Lunch will be served
-SEPTA reimbursement will be provided to cover travel costs

Support for this program is provided by the AIDS Activities Coordinating Office (AACO).
